I know what you mean. Layne is my inspiration as well. I cannot even begin to explain what his words and music have meant to me.
Your breakthrough sounds similar to the way mine was...I found myself getting bored with drawing until I began sketching some pictures of Layne. It was the first time I really felt passionate about who I was drawing, so I think that showed up in the end result.
Of course, I like to draw other things as well, haha, but there is a certain fondness I have for drawing Layne. Like your boyfriend said, "Use your obsessions to your advantage", haha. Wise words. Keep up the awesome drawings
